Staying at The Mudhouse is a bit like being on a permanent safari.
We are fortunate to find ourselves surrounded by nature and wildlife, and it is never necessary to look too hard to find something of interest.
Solitary mouse deer are a common sight around the huts, while looking for the nocturnal slender loris makes a great night walk. The Ceylon Jungle Fowl, Sri Lanka’s National Bird, roams freely amidst the tree cover.
Lizards of many varieties, toads, frogs, turtles, snakes, boar, spotted deer, civet cats, mongoose, jungle cats, porcupine, tortoise and mokeys can all be spotted on our land, which is increasingly becoming a refuge for some species.
We are also blessed with over 130 species of birds at different times of the year, with many endemic species also to be found along with many birds of prey. Butterflies and dragonflies can also be found in abundance.
